Quimet & Quimet is a Barcelona institution. I've always thought everyone knew about it, but now I realize that's not the case. That's why I've taken the liberty to pay homage to it in this blog post, because it's truly one of a kind.

Dating back to 1914, this tapas and montaditos bar is nestled in the Poble Sec neighborhood. Perhaps its standout feature is its specialization in preserves, served as tapas and montaditos, alongside a spectacular wine cellar. The atmosphere strikes a strangely balanced chord between locals and tourists, a feat not easily achieved.

Fortunately, they've cracked the code for success: you can only stay inside for an hour, eating standing up, and they guarantee you won't wait in line for more than an hour since they don't take reservations. Once you're in, it's a feast. You just decide what you like, and let them work their magic. The last time I went was to celebrate my birthday, and for the first time, I tried the smoked oyster montadito paired with a rosé cava.

Make sure to save room for their chocolate dessert; it's from another planet :) !
